Georgia Tech football upset by NC State, loses first game of season

Georgia Tech's unbeaten season came to an end with a 48-36 loss to unranked North Carolina State on the road. The defeat drops the No. 7 Yellow Jackets to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the ACC, moving them out of first place in the conference standings. Virginia, ranked No. 15, now leads the ACC with a 5-0 record after defeating California 31-21.

Georgia Tech's defense struggled against the Wolfpack, allowing 583 total yards. NC State quarterback CJ Bailey played a key role, throwing for 340 yards and two touchdowns. Despite the loss, Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King delivered a strong performance, passing for 408 yards and a touchdown, and rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns. King surpassed Georgia Tech's all-time record for touchdowns responsible for with 84.

The ACC title race remains competitive, with Georgia Tech, Pitt, Louisville, SMU, and Duke each having one conference loss
