An engineer's solution to the terrible experience of getting NFL news.

Derek Gilbert
I'm an engineer who loves football. I've spent years building AI systems, but I created The Daily Handoff because I was tired of the terrible experience of getting NFL news.
The Problem
After a big NFL weekend, I'd spend way too long jumping between ESPN, Twitter, and other sites just to figure out what actually happened. Ads everywhere. Clickbait headlines. Important stories buried under fluff.
It felt like these sites were designed to waste my time, not help me stay informed.
I realized they could get away with bad experiences because there wasn't a better option.
The Solution
I built what I wanted to exist: clean NFL news that respects your time. AI handles the heavy lifting—monitoring hundreds of sources, filtering out noise—but and keeping the context that matters.
No ads
Clean, distraction-free reading
No clickbait
Straight to the point
Respects your time
Information you need, fast
Just the information you need in formats that work for busy people.
Why This Matters
Most sports media treats fans like products to sell to advertisers. I think NFL fans deserve better. We're smart people with limited time who just want to stay informed without the chaos.
The Daily Handoff is my attempt to prove that's possible.
